Replacing a Door

Replacing a Door

There are so many things that can go wrong when replacing a door with a new door blank-hinge slots placed upside down, holes drilled incorrectly and so on. This video will give you all the right info to do your door replacement right the first time and save you a lot of money.  I made it in the USA, so please excuse the dollar prices. The procedure is much the same in South Africa.

Have a look at the video and send a link to all your friends to share the information.

Door hinges and opening/closing mechanisms are a little different in South Africa, so check with your hardware store to get the correct pieces.

If you have to cut the bottom of the door make sure to paint the bare wood with a universal undercoat. This will seal the wood and prevent moisture from getting into the wood. Moisture could cause the door to swell.

It’s a good idea to get a friend or family member to give you a hand with this project, especially if you’re replacing a number of doors. This is quite a physical project, so take breaks often, have a cold drink regularly and turn it into a fun occasion, instead of trying to rush it and getting frustrated with life (losing a friend is not part of the deal).
